Beautiful prewar glass floral necklace and bracelet set. Frosted glass flowers with fluted petals plus bright green glass leaves are set along pastel glass beads in blue, pink, green and purple. The petals are separately set allowing for slight movement. Each flower has a coordinating glass cabochon wired in the center. Additional miniature opaque glass flowers are mixed between each of the larger ones and also hang below the center flower.
The glass flowers are centered on the necklace, affixed to woven fabric attached to a single strand of glass beads on each side. On the bracelet, the glass flowers and a double strand of beads are strung on a flexible wire that curls to fit your wrist. The mark, Made in Germany, indicates that this set was made prior to World War II.

Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger started Coro in1901 as a small accessories store on Broadway in New York City. The company officially changed it's name to Coro Inc., a combination of the two names, in 1943. Coro was once one of the largest costume jewelry companies in the world and employed many distinctive designers including Adolph Katz, design director; Gene Verecchio; Oscar Placco; Robert Geissmann and Massa Raimond. John Pico John (Mr. John), (1906-1993), born John Pico Harberger, Munich. Before forming the Mr. John label, he was a partner with Frederic Hirst in John-Frederics (1927 to 1948), and during that period designed the hats for Gone With The Wind. Mr. John's designs were popular in the 1940s through the 1970s. Clients included stars of film, stage, opera and high society - Duchess of Windsor, Gloria Swanson, Gloria Vanderbilt, Mary Pickford, Lauren Bacall, Joan Crawford and Rosalind Russell. He and Cecil Beaton designed the hats for My Fair Lady. His hats were worn by Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express, by Greta Garbo in The Painted Veil and by Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. At its peak his business employed 150 and brought in over $7 million a year. Mr. John was one of New York's great entertainers, known for his outrageous behavior. When he launched a new collection he publicized it in Mr. John's Fashion News, using celebrities as models. He retired in the 1970s, complaining that women's fashion was dead, and that women had "'sold-out'" to "hairdressers who make orthopedic hairdos and french-fried curls." McDowell, p. 159-160. By then he was the world's richest milliner. He died at age 91. (New York Times Obituary dated June 29, 1993). David Pallas was a Paris atelier with a ready-to-wear line know for impeccable tailoring. Founded in 1970, the company was taken over by Daniel Pallas, the son of the founder, and Daniel's wife Véronique. They manufactured clothes for other high-end designers. In 2013 the couple rebranded the company as Pallas and are now known for their women's tuxedo jackets.

Artist Catherine Ogust began her company in the late 1960s when she couldn’t find dresses she liked. Before launching Penthouse Gallery she was known for producing licensed ceramic reproductions of Pablo Picasso plates. Primarily known for bold prints and bright solid colors, she had her fashions manufactured in Japan under the label Penthouse Gallery. Ogust’s most famous designs were in the 1980s.
Her classic shift dresses in were a breath of fresh area, unstructured and sans shoulder pads. Her designs were manufactured in Japan of 100% cotton from large paintings. Round woven fabric buttons were handmade in China.Penthouse Gallery prints and solid color dresses were available in three dress lengths: the Tunic above the knee; the Forever Dress just below the knee and the Caftan that was floor length. With 125 prints available, many women were avid collectors.
Ogust aptly named her Forever Dress stating, “When they are too old to wear, like in 100 years, you can sleep in them, and they may wear out after 1,000 years.
