After some searching, Ida found the last remaining producer in Vienna, and ordered a set. From there she created a luxury handbag brand. Famous for modernizing the art of petit and needlepoint, her purses sold in high end stores, and are collectors’ items today. In an era when women did not lead businesses, she built a company that employed over 20,000 workers and controlled 90% of a global market. Ida Jolles passed away in the 1960s.
